Weve all seen em, theres some even as I write this and Im sick of reading it..

"£1000-1500-2000 for a bike, which one do i get"

It pisses me off that someone comes to a forum to ask "what do i get" with 1-2k. Surely if theyve no clue what theyre into or what bike is for them they should only be looking at the bargain bike. Unless they have way too much money, and by reading most of the posts generally this doesnt seem to be the case.

Its very strange to me... Discuss.

You moan, but without those topics this forum would be completely dead, instead of nearly completely dead.
  • Cant see a problem with posts like that, surely its nice to know that people approach a forum like this to gain advice from yourself.

Maybe cause the person with 2 grand would like a few opinions from other people in "the know" or may of possibly owned a particular bike instead of blowing 2 grand on a lemon that some salesman who's got no idea sold them.

I think its a perfectly valid topic area. People ask for a few recommendations/ideas on which bikes to look at. The problem for a new buyer is that there are far too many bikes, in that price range, claiming to be the best thing since sliced breasts. A bit of a push in the right direction can't be a bad thing.

Perhaps what annoys me more, is the vast range between the upper and lower limits of the budgets. Just stick to "up to £2000 to spend".

I'll see you at the end.

theres nothing wrong with it!! many people may want to see what other people think of a particualr bike. its all very well test riding one, but long term information on what the bikes like to live with is useful too!
I said hit the brakes not the tree!!

  • My guess is that they've already got some idea what bike they want, but they want to see if the same thing gets recommended by others on the forum. To have it 'confirmed' as a good bike, if you like.
