07 BARGINS? - Winter bike / commuter / tourer

Hi all,

Got the cycling bug this summer. Had a blast. Looking for winter 07' deal for a Winter road bike / commuter / tourer / cross

Thinking of £300 - 600(Max)

I want 'gards for winter riding, strong enough to tour, and I'll need rack mounts (ideally f+r). I fancy a go at a cross event but not essential


Seen Ribble sold out of 07 doubles with 9 speeds - bummer

Toying with getting a Kaffenback (but will have to hide the cost from the missus)

Any suggestions for bargin 07 clearance deals out there?

Or any 'pre-loved' deals out there? Are there any good places to look for 2nd hand deals?

    I got a Sirrus off e-bay in good nick with saddle pack, bottle cage and computer for £200

    But more high end stuff also available, mostly road bikes and off road, not much 'in between' type commuter stuff
    It's just a hill. Get over it.

    I got the giant SCR 1 07 for £600 its got guard and rack mounts, I will be using it all winter for commuting, no idea on touring suitability but I like it for 7 miles each way commuting.

    How tall are you? If youre over 5, 10 the specialized globe 2007 hybrid is 200 quid on the tredz shop. you could get a better spec used bike on ebay probably tho (spend any money youve got left on a decent pair of gloves, my fingers almost dropped off this morning and its still only september)
