how many gears at the moment? If there's 8 at the back you should be able to but it would mean a whole new 9 speed compatible drivetrain I expect0

I am thinking of upgrading to an SRAM x7 drive train - will this do the trick and is this advisable?0

should do but you'd need the rear cassette, mechs, chain, shifters and a 9 speed compatible chainset. Would probably be easier and cheaper to keep 8 out back but its your call I guess0

What is the 9 speed compatible chainset?0

the cranks and chainrings. basically, to get the extra cog at the back the chain has been made narrower and therefore the chainrings at the front have narrower teeth (I assume anyway).
Have a look through here, don't think sram make chainsets0 -
IMHO its not worth the effort.0
