Groupset to go with your Ribble/Condor/Dolan frame
It seems there's now a new groupset which is being badge engineered in much the same way as Deda frames - see the bottom of http://www.cyclingnews.com/tech/2007/sh ... terbike071 (also been seen as Sunrace and Microshift)
Just wondering how long before Ribble manage to badge it up as their own to sell much cheaper than the high end Condor version?

Ah, but that's just it. Someone else in another thread was pointing out just how important the bike really is - tiny differences count in racing, apparently (never noticed it myself), and of course, if it had a prestigious sticker on it then that difference is enough, especially if it's an Italian sticker (although of course the experienced bike snob will point out that this DOES NOT include Tifosi). Also, five years is now accepted as the replacement interval for a bike frame (on another thread today), so the key is to show off something which identifies you as one of the Cognescenti, well within that period. The prestige group doesn't include Ribble, either, it appears, perhaps because they are doing so much to bring good kit to the masses of everyday cyclists (here used pejoratively), and that would never do.0

Sampson had a full groupset with Sachs derailleurs in the 1990's, so I suppose I'm not too surprised to see their name on the Sunrace drivetrain. They probably helped with it's design.
I'm not sure that the Sunrace shifters' mechanism will be that nice though. The second lever to push inwards looks a bit small. Sampson might do ok if they don't make it look like the bling Cylon group!0
