Well ill be honest ive been having problems lately with BBs amongst others things, but as i was about to install a new one i wondered if im actually using the right measurements. See the shop replaced my 1st one (original) so i never saw it. I was told it required 113mm x 73mm is this right?
Reason i ask i was about to stick another (new) one in tonight but pointless adding or not adding the spacer if im wrong.. and therefore why these BBs seem to be failing
Edit: Just found a 2005 Kona Coiler tech manual online, ill take a look through this and report back

Says that it should be 113 x 68 so im pretty sure, it will be the same? At least this explains why i have been having problems...0 -
shell is 68mm and axel is crank dependent.
but a tape measure would have identified the shell width."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

fisrt what are you fitting?
have you got the fitting info for it?
bb width is just that the width of the bb shell.
68mm or 73mm (length of the tube)
have a read of parktools. linky below."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
