I'd go courier bag for that lot as the laptop rucksacks tend to be a bit cumbersome and don't leave enough room. I went with a Bagaboo, but that was totally self-indulgent and unecessary. Fortunately, I'm responsible for IT orders in our department so I'll be getting myself a really snazzy lightweight Toshiba so taht it's not too much of a pain on the bike!0

Bagaboo:-> I'd never heard of them. They look good. The XL with a laptop sleeve should do it. Especially if I add compression straps for those "empty bag" days.
Thanks for the tip off.

Erm...now the B I G question is which shoulder I will carry my bag on. Erm...well I never had a messenger bag before so I don't know. Is there a standard formula? Like Left Handers go right shoulder and vice versa?

I tend to use both shoulders evenly over the space of the week
I've got a crumpler bees knees pro... it's on the larger side of the market but it hold everything I need with no problemsPurveyor of sonic doom

Depends on your distance, I tend to find those who use messenger bags have shorter commutes than those who use rucksacks.0

As long as you don't mind being called a "fakenger" by the messenger set then I would get a messenger bag as they are designed for cycling and are also very hard wearing. Many makes now do laptop/notebook specific bags or inserts some of them like Freitag let you make up your own bag.
Any of these makes should suffice:

A full list. Thanks. That is really helpful. Don't mind being called a fakenger. Too old now to care what people think of me. I just need a good way to tote my kit to work.
I really like the look of the bagaboo workhorse. I only dp 5 miles each way at the moment but carry more stuff than I used to. In the past with a 10-20 mile each way commute I took a rucksack and travelled a bit lighter.0
