Does anybody know where I can get a 7mm allen bolt?
I have tried 3 major bike shops now, and they all said they would have to order them in.
On ebay the sizes go 5, 6, 8mm.
The bolt secures the seat to the seatpost on my Dahon Jack 07.
Obviously I have asked the shop where I bought the bike from to order me one, but it could take ages.
Anybody know where I can get one right now - no messing around?

Cheers.

are you sure it is a 7mm thread?

a very very odd thread size.

    No, not totally sure.
But it must be pretty odd for none of the shops to have them in.
Its off an innovative combined "pump in seatpost" device.

M7 is just an odd size.

it could be a bolt that has a bigger/smaller head that normal..

best bet is to fing a bolt shop (normally trade) and take the bits in.

some handlebar binding bolts were 7 X 1mm

whats the make of the seat pump?

Stagonset is your source for stainless steel bolts - they will sell small numbers (even just 1 bolt), though I usually get a few as p&p is £1.50.

edit: Oh I see they do M6 and M8 but not M7 - must be a weird size!

M7 is a very odd size - not generally used since ISO standardisation - I used to have a pre-war Citroen that had M7 and M9 fasteners though. I would seriously doubt that your Dahon uses something odd - but I'm prepared to be surprised! Try an engineering / industrial fasteners company, rather than a bike shop. If you want stainless, a marine chandler is also a good place to try.
