Well the main question is, is this any good never really been fussed on giant bikes but i been offered one by a mate who just upgraded

You need to try it forst really. They are good bikes - but of course price is a factor too. many find them to be very XC based, with short travel forks and stiff frame.

can vouch for the stiff frame.

i've built up a xtc frame into a racey xc hardtail and its certainly that. very stiff and rigid but it is fantastic bike. quite a long stretched out feel to it aswell which may or may not suit you.
