Tyre seating
Hi.
I have recently got back into cycling. Initially with a decathlon Triban Trail 3. Gotta say, It's good for the money. Big and comfy for this 6'2" 20 stone bloke.
I am doing 50-60 Miles a week and loving it
I was getting lots of punctures with the tyres that came with it, so I bought some new Michelin Transworld City Reflectos 700 x 35 and new inner tubes to go with them.
The back one went on sweet as a nut, but I can't seem to get the front one on straight. There always seems to be a dip in the tyre as if it's set too far down into the rim, (or the rest is too far up.) The position of the dip seems to change each time I re-fit it which I guess rules out a faulty tyre. Is there any tip to getting it set and seated evenly apart from just keep doing it till it's right?
Thanks
Andy

Wet the tyre with water or use some diluted washing up liquid to make it more slippery. Also make sure you get enough air in the tyre to 'pop' the bead (you can always let air out once the tyre is seated).0

Rather than water, I use talc. Tyre seems to slip on much easier and smells good too !!0

As soon as I saw This I remembered My grandad doing this to my bike when I was 7, (41 years ago!) Tried it, worked perfectly.
BTW ,with the washing up liquid, talk about "Squeeky Clean!" Really loud break squeals till built up a bit of muck on em again.
Thanks to all who replied.
