I have a set of Rock Shox 351 U-Turn forks, does anyone know if it's possible to fit remote lock on to these forks. If it makes a difference I have the ones without v brake mounts, which brings me to another question, are there any other differences between the 351s that do have v brake mounts. Cheers.

There Recons Nick,
I think you can buy them with the Poploc option so don't see any reason why an aftermarket kit wont fit.

All it says on the forks is.........Rock Shox 351 U-Turn ......... they have compression lock out, adjustable rebound and travel, they are the ones that come on the Boardman comp, i can't find the exact ones on the net as all of them seem to have v-brake mounts which mine don't.0

big and yes they should be recons but i never asume it.
and if they have the blue friction dial then you need the 50 kit for a new motion controll stack and pop lock."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok couple of quick pics excuse the quality.
Lock out,
Travel Adjustment,
Rebound Adjustment, there is a small allen key type adjuster fits in the bottom of the forks, i have took this out incase i loose it.

and pic of the fork? right leg."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ok from the boardman webby yes it should be a recon.
it already has the motion control damping but with the friction top cap so yes if you get the spring loaded motion control stack and pop lock it will drop straight in to the right leg."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

see it says recon on it. anyway see above."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
So what exactly do i need to buy, ain't got a clue on this sort a thing.0

"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
It says for the tora range which has lost me a bit, Thanks BTW.0

and as the fork has motion control it should work. ie the cable outer should fit.
the tora recon revelation and reba all have the same basic internals and they are swapable and modifable the same way. if a tora has the same damping as a recon then the kit is the same."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

it will invole a few tools and a bit of mess so if you are not happy doing it get an LBS to get the parts and do it."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

What will be needed, i like to do things myself mainly for satisfaction and to gain knowledge, but if i could do more damage than the cost of someone else doing it then i will get the shop to do it.0

Those recons don't have the same poploc mounts my revelations have. See the hole beside the poploc. http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/9492/06021083ev1.jpg
The 3 setups: http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/3162 ... oraml3.jpg
I don't think it will work0 -
which is why there is a bolt on cable stop in the kit."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
So does this mean my shocks don't blow off when in locked mode, was told they did when buying the bike.0
-
yours have a flood gate but it is not adjustable. you may just not be hitting the limit."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
So is the remote you suggested a no go or still ok, will be ordering tomorrow once i've decided which pedals i want.0
-
should do as your internals are the same as the tora etc.... but i still advise a discusion with the seller."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

please please read this before you go getting anything for your fork.
firstly you need to buy a new motion control stick (the bit inside the fork) there are two versions one ment for the one you have and the other is for the pop loc handle bar version. these can not work either way. it's one or the other. if you go onto fisher website and look for yourself in the workshop area you can get the part number for it. or just get your lbs to order and fit. oh yeah did i mention it will cost over £70.00 for that part alone. trust me i have done many a conversion for punters. it's a rather exspensive way just to lock your fork. when you can already do it.
the only bonus with the new stick is that it comes with the po loc adjustment aswell.
forgot to mention you also have to get the top cap aswell as it doesn't come with it.
do you really need this. if you can't get it then send me a pm i can help you outinternet (in ter net), secret sanctuary of idiots and nutters.0 -
Russ i was under the impresion that the stacks were the same except for the blue cap and the spring (which are included in the CRC kit) and the lack of friction washer.
yes it is easier just to replace that stacks but as they are the same less the spring...."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
me bad i was under the impression he was needing the pop loc dial version. but yeah the kit from crc will do just fine for just having the handlebar lockout.internet (in ter net), secret sanctuary of idiots and nutters.0
