need help buying bottom bracket plz

hi i have a saracen xile,its the older version. Ineed a new bottom bracket, i have truvativ hesselfelt cranks and i dont know what "chainline" means. I want the truvativ howitzer bb but it says 50 mm chainline. Is that the width of the bb shell or what. Any help will be gratefully reccieved thanks

    unless your cranks are Howitzer compatable you will need a ISIS bb.

    Chainline is the distance from the centre of your BB shell to the middle of your chain line (middle chainring in a triple set-up). As Nick eludes to above, although Howitzer BBs use the ISIS interface, they are not compatible with ISIS chainsets

    Your chainset should say either Howitzer or ISIS somewhere on it.

    Other than that, you need to know your BB shell width (68 or 73mm most likely) and your spindle length (113 or 118 most likely).

  • yeh i ave a isis crank set and i fink it shud all fit together now...fnx alot peeps :D
