What upgrades for around £250?

Subject banner says it all!
Have looked at upgrading to XTR front Rear mechs, and shifters.. could also squeeze a chain ring with the change, but would have to be a compimised choice.

Anyone any better ideas on how to spend this money?

Bike is '07 Spesh XC, already upgraded brakes to Hayes Nines, and Rear shock to Fox Float R...

You could get a nice new wheel and hub set-maybe a mavic hope combination!

XTR gear is very pimped but for the performance u get over XT its massively overpriced and not worth the outlay if u ask me. If u have XT gear then stick with that and instead get a set of wheels from Merlin, ask any customer what they think of merlins wheels and their legendary reputation will soon become clear.

If u still want to change ur gears/transmission have u thought about SRAM instead? i havent used one yet myself but i have heard very good things indeed from a couple of guys at work that use it.

I have considered SRAM as an alternative, and also changing wheels. Thinking a little more about it, I may go for the wheels, as I can upgrade the transmission piece by piece, without a large outlay in one hit.

My Lobster came from Merlin nearly 4 yrs ago now and the wheels have never had to looked at even once in all that time, they've stayed tight and true even with a muppet like me riding them!!!

First question: whiy do you feel the need to upgrade? If you are not sure what to upgrade then generally it doesnt need doing.

Your probably right, However just won £250 on a scratch card, and my first thought was to spend it on my bike... Its either that or down the pub, but I'd rather see something for the money rather than p#*s it up the wall! 8)
