Sorry guys, I mean it with this question. I'm a roadie, getting into MTBing and got myself an 853 frame (Voodoo) XT group, and half-decent finshing kit. I'll be upgrading to XTR soon, just because my ego tells me to.
The Voodoo has a rigid fork. I am upgrading this. I was given a Pace RC 36 (?) -about 5 years old but in OK nick- but the steerer is too short. I could change the steerer,I know, but I'm planning to buy a new fork. Use? Mostly fast singletrack stuff, a little XC racing in the future, lots of trail work. No jumps, and needs to be light, obviously. Thanks in advance for your wisdom. Oh, yes, V-BRAKES.

I would say a set of Rock Shox Rebas, but I'm not sure if they do them with V brake mounts.0

sam1234,
Thanks. Sounds like I should go to disc brakes? I understand that I can get a bracket for the frame, which won't be as good as a frame built for disks but good enough?0 -
Best REBA's you can afford. They come in Disc only and Disc and V brake compatible.0

not SIDs? Is there anything against SIDs?0

Well they are lighter. But less versatile, and a lot flexier. And the aint that much lighter anway, the Team version is nearly as much as a Reba anyway.0
