Car Wax on carbon frames

any one know if it's ok to use car wax on carbon frames and components ??

i have some really great car wax, pure Carnauba Wax, no harsh abrasives or gents in it.
it used to keep my car dirt and grime free for ages.
i'm pretty sure it would be ok, but was just wonder if you clever lot had any words of wisdom on this.

I would say it is okay, since the carbon fibre will have either a laquer coating or paint which will have laquer on top. I doubt there would be a problem, although if you do use it and your bike melts away, dont blame me!

I have used Zymol Glazur on my Spesh Roubaix Pro without problems - as owaingibby says, the frame has a laquer finish.

probably too abbrasive for carbon, i wouldnt splash out on proper carbon bike polish its only £5

don't use car polish - it has abrasives and or solvents for a cleaning effect - I would imagine that the finish-line stuff above will have cleaning agents in it too and I wouldn't touch it either.

a non-cleaning pure wax, either synthetic or natural (carnuaba) woiuld be ideal - northpoles' zymol is a good option, but very pricey - he must have a nice car to warrant that! - a cheaper option would be something like P21S which is a great car wax for the money.

I've been using Carnauba wax on my carbon frame and it seems fine. Have a look at Harly Wax which costs about £17 for a 400ml tin (that will keep you going for several years).

It can be bought from Woods Automotive on ebay.
