Dennis has been with us for about a week now.

He has enlivened our forum with his caustic wit. He makes us re-examine what we are all so obsessed about. He helps us to see the bigger picture. I, for one, have seen what is truly important in cycling as a result.

Yes, Dennis, I was a bike pimp. I wandered in the dark places of the soul, interested only in material things (mainly carbon fibre).

I see Dennis that you are a true rider (specifically Wheelman of the Year 1987 in the Toledo Ohio Bicycle Club - see http://www.freewheel.com/mvw/honors.html) . I am a mere shadow of a cyclist.

Now I am ready to follow you, Dennis. LEAD US!

All who wish to walk in the true path of Toledo Wheelmanism, join me on this thread.

I to am just a shadow of a cyclist. The only reason I won wheelman of the year was
because I did all the club dirty work, sweeping corners at the weekly races, being
the club President, standing at the finish line and keeping track of winners and losers,
helping to put out the club newsletter, and last but not least, hardly ever racing. Not that
I was much of a racer anyway. I have, just recently quit my post of race director over
safety concerns. Am I to sarcastic for some people? You bet. Could be worse though,
think about my long suffering wife. Yes, I know, she must be a saint to put up with an
asshole like me. So remember, just because I say something doesn't make it true. Hell, I long ago lost track of the number of mistakes I've made in this life.
Just for some idea of who I am, I'm 59 years old, ride maybe 150 miles a week during "The Season", run some in the winter, practice Tia Chi, play the violin(very poorly),
read lots, and ride "The Bicycle Tour of Colorado" to properly flog and torture
myself at least once a year. I really do love riding and hope everyone else has a chance
to do their cycling thing, whatever it may be. if you do nothing else, ride safely.
