Hi Im looking for a budget crankset for my brothers bike. ihe has a budget of about £50 including BB

its an older bike so it only has a seven speed cassette and he wants 3 rings on the front

any help would be appreciated

do you want single/double or triple ring? what is the bike used for? general riding, jumping, xc, dh etc? you want new or second hand?

general riding with some light xc , triple ring, new

shimano deore hollowtech 2 w/bb £50 or LX hollowtech 2 w/bb for £60 both on chainreaction website, will save a fair bit weight aswell compared to a standard square taper type, only issue you might have is with the chain, most modern chainsets are designed with narrow 8/9spd chains in mind

I no ... thats what i was thinking the hollowtech seemed a good buy

the only difference is a 44 tooth top ring for 8/9 and a 42 ring for seven speed

il ask in the lbs as well
