Almost had an accident on my way home

It started raining on the way home so i took the flatter route home rather than the downhill route (Both come out the same place).

At the bottom at the junction that leads on to my road where both roads come out is where it occurred. I turned right at the corner and the whole bike slipped from underneath me and i felt the bike go, it must of been almost parallel to the ground but in a sudden moment of genius/luck/reaction i managed to get the bike back upright! How i didnt slide across the road i dont know! All i know is that the road there is very slippery when wet and i had tried to avoid it but it went wrong. Glad i didnt come off though as it was going to hurt im sure of it!

Has anyone else made a miraculous save like this?

Nice save, sounds like you had a lucky escape... Amazing what your natural instincts can do when needed...

It was incredibly slippery on the way home, had a couple of 'arse clenching' moments myself on white lines this evening....

Well done on the recovery. The rider in front of me on Sunday in the Pedal for Scotland ride too made a good recovery too. We were going downhill too but not too fast on a residential road. A car came flying round the bend the other way (uphill). I don't think it was was going to hit him but it caused him to slide too and in the rain it could have been nasty which he done well to recover.

Diesel or grids.... find the semi-slicked mtb is far twitchier than the race tyred road bike in the wet.

I have come off the bike from spilt dairy products on the Cat and Fiddle in Cheshire....

Hot day, flying down the road, notice a trail of white stuff, avoided it for some distance (the Buxton Macc descent is a number of miles), and on one corner the bike just went - slid over the road, car and caravan just stopped, jumped off and dived for the side of the road...

6 inch square patch off my ass - boy did that smart..(in the shower). even had to go to the pub with trackies on, as pants were too sore...... Wrecked a fine pair of new shorts too.....
