Hi,
I ran Ultegra on Octalink for over 3000 fine. I got a new bike with FSA gossamer on ISIS and it creaks. I have another bike with FSA k-force carbon on ISIS Ti pimp BB and it creaks.

I dissambled everything and put it all back together and the creak stopped for about 90 miles then started again. I think the creak maybe from the chainring bolts. Is this likely?

Do all cranksets creak? Any advice on a good crankset that won't creak? I have had it with FSA. And there chainring bolts are bobbins too. Always rounding the heads out. Stoopid torx!!!

Cheers

Russell

it's more likely to be the BB-crank interface.

ISIS has lots of problems......... go for Shimano HT2.

  • I have the FSA carbon compact ISIS kit and during my recent End to End ride creaking began - it was very annoying as it spoilt some lovely quiet country lanes. The noise was always worse when i 'stood' on the pedals and put the pressure on. On day 5, there was a bit of rain and the creaking stopped. Since arriving home i have cleaned and re greased the bracket etc.. So far so good but I have only done about 50miles so i have my fingers crossed that the noise will not return. However, it may be worth checking the front mech is tight, I was told in a LBS that a loose (band on) mech can cause creaking.
You can by a Chain ring tool for around £5 from either wiggle or probikekit at the mo, and a FSA chain ring (pointy star allen key style) should have come with the crank set.
Ensure plenty of grease on the BB - crank interface.
  • Thanks for that both. Like I say I dismantled and reassembled. I could have used more grease so I will try again being more liberal.
