Hi there..

I've just signed up to this forum, hoping you guys can help me with a quick question.. I appreciate this may have been asked before, so apologies if it has, but couldnt find anything using the search button..

but basically i just want to know if there is any big difference between the Agressor xc(?)1 and the Avalanche 1.0

as they are both the same price, and look similar..

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Aggressor better fork, Avalanche better brakes. Thats about it really.

This is open to debate anyway, aluminium stanchions on the Avalanche's forks so it's probably lighter, mine move a lot smoother than my Tora 302s.

The spring is a bit soft in the Suntour fork but apart from that it's great. My Toras stick all the way through their travel and get about 70mm total (on 302 SL's with 100mm travel). The Aurigas on the Avalanche have served me very well as well, the FSR XC I've got has got the Sole on and they're not a patch, they seem ot have settled down now but required regular tweaking to keep going (and work with 1 piston instead of the Aurigas 2).

When wet my Aurigas sound a bit like a turkey, the Sole sound like a seal. The choice is yours!

Toras take some time to bed in, and adjustable rebound is far more useful than just a lockout.

True, although I find the rebound adjuster on my Toras just between doing nothing and something quite rapidly, I've never felt drasically in control of the rebound speed (like I did on the old Revelations I had).

You're probably right on the bedding in actually, it's only about 5 weeks old, I don't recall being quite so hacked off with the Suntour/Revelations when they were new though. It's been hammered around Cannock Chase a good 15 laps and a bit of Dalby in that time, plus a good bit of Bridleway stuff. Seals cleaned and lubes lightly every go.

Its certainly one of the better suntour forks. I have a Tora 302 and 318, both have 720 degrees of rebound adjustment.

Would that be 302 solo air or coil just out of interest?

(Sorry for the thread hijack, I prefer the Avalanche! ;))

Both solo air forks. One of the stiffest QR forks I have ever used!

Yeah, I'd heard good things :) So good they stopped making them sadly.

Thats my opinion - it was too bloody good that fork for its price, and nobody was buying recons. Mine is only 4.25lbs, and at 130mm of travel with steel stanchions is really rather good. Esp for 50 quid new on ebay!
