manitou 4 way rebound?

the reboud dial on my manitou swinger 4 way shock seemes to do absolutly nothing? any clues as to what might be causing this or is it just that manitou shocks have poor rebound adjustment?

im sure i would know if id turned it too far because surly i would have had to force it past a certain point which i know i havnt done, or is it possible to go to far without feeling any resistance? i sincerly doubt that, unless maby i just have a dogey shock?0

oh dude i think ive sorted it, there was no air pressure in the shock, i just put a little bit in and now the rebounds working, thank god! cheers for your help nick much appreciated!0

yeh i know i found a manual on the net, the bike has no cranks yet so i wasnt bouncing on it as such, pushing the frame with my hand, when you say "kill" in what way would it be dead?0
