I've held off buying a front light through the summer as I didn't need one. Now the time has come.

Every light I've had has either fallen off and been run over or been nicked. I've had the Cateye EL500 but I was not all that impressed. Its bright for the first 10h then dims. The plastic gets brittle in winter months and breaks where it connects to the bracket. I had the EL400 as well. Not bad but not very bright.

I'm thinking for my work ride I'd like something robust and as bright as I can get in the £20-40 bracket. Because I leave it locked up outside I don't want to spend a lot on the light because it may get nicked. I was thinking of:

But then there are a multitude of others around the 20-40 price mark. Such as BLT Ozone, Infini.

I may get another for my road bike. Because I don't leave it anywhere and I go out on country roads I would go more upmarket and look for lights between 100-150 mark. And again there are a multitude such as L&M Vega, DiNotte, BLT Triton, Exposure Joystick, Nite Rider MiNewt. I would prefer no battery pack but would forgo that for brightness.

Any recommendation's or lights to avoid out of those two price brackets?
