Hurts like hell.. to the point where it tweaks i shout obscenities. it is excruciatingly sore i dont understand it. i push off with the right leg but it hurts In my left knee, about 5 mins into my ride fixed or geared.. fast or slow. on flat or hills.

after the ride its very sore to walk on too. Suppose a trip to a&e is in order.. feels like the tendon on the outside of the knee is the culprit.

Someone suggested hot and cold wraps, swapping every 2 mins to sort it out.

any other suggestions?

  • If it's hurting you to walk/cycle then you need to stop until you've got it looked at before you do any serious damage.

Go see your GP, get yourself sorted properly and dont damage it further.

Stop cycling right now, else you might cause further long term serious damage if you haven't already that is. I would pay to go see a serious sports physio, and not bother with your GP. I've heard that the ones at the Portland Place gym are quite good.

i'm a musculoskeletal lead specialist podiatrsit with extended scope to knees, hips and backs. the level of pain you describe is suggestive of something rather more than a simple strain. as others have said stop riding now.

go and see your gp and ask to be referred to you nhs trsut 'musculoskeletal triage service'. this usually has a wait of 1-2 weeks and you will end up seeing the right person as a result. however, not all trusts have these and if you're unlucky i would advise either seeing a private sports physio or asking the gp how long the wait for nhs physio is. our trust has a wait of 2-3 wks so there wont be much in it as long as you rest the knee.
Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive.

Yeah i had a week off last week, no jip at all then rode in on the mtb today for a bit of comfort and it just started all over again.

Will have to ride home tonight then ill pack it in for a bit.

GP is in kent, or brighton.. dunno where im registered not been for years and years. but ill look into the sport physio thing.

Do i need to be a member at the portland place?

    Cheers!

I think if you cant afford the physio, BM would be willing to help out, maybe even pay.:lol:
