Hi Lads / Lasses,
I have a mate who has £500 quid to spend on a bike. He's 6ft 13st and he thinks i'm an expert because i've been riding for 3 years (some expert). Which bikes would you recommend? I'm useless coz I only know the specialized range from my Rockhopper disc !?!
Cheers
Ian

Trouble with Halfords purchases, if bike goes wrong, can have real problems getting decent Halfords mechanic to fix it. The threads on this forum site are full of horror stories, BEWARE :twisted:Where'd that bloody Deer appear from?

Nowt wrong with my Halfords purchase.
They must have seen you coming.
Now please please stop spamming numerous threads with this somewhat heart rending but ultimately very very very boring story.Cycle tracks will abound in Utopia. ~H.G. Wells

Yeah,
I had a bit of a fall the other day,
Didn't think it would show up on black shorts though.

The problem is that's all you bloody do.
The same post on almost every thread where someone dares to recommend Halford's as a viable alternative.
I'll say this once again.
There are people who have had bad experiences with Halford's, there are also people who have never had any problem whatsoever with either the initial purchase, the backup or the service and maintenance side.
The same applies for every single local bike shop and every single bike.
You, it appears are using this forum to run your own personal little war on Halfords, I just cannot imagine what it is you actually hope to achieve? Do you honestly think a few critical posts on a forum are going to solve your problems for you?
How about you let people make up there own minds?Cycle tracks will abound in Utopia. ~H.G. Wells

Isn't letting people make up their own mind the whole point, they take your experience and mine and decide. If I cost Halfords a couple of purchases, fine, I know each individual shop is different, but their customer services is just one section, and it stinks in my opinion, and lots of others on here. If you are offended by my comments report me to moderator or just don't read 'em.Where'd that bloody Deer appear from?

Well that's a start I guess.
I have no problem at all with people relaying bad experiences, as you so rightly point out, that is part of a decision making process and leads to a fair reflection on a retailer.
But why do you feel the need to do it so regularly?
That's what I cannot understand.
How many posts have you made that say exactly the same thing?
And report you to a mod? Nah......where's the fun in that?Cycle tracks will abound in Utopia. ~H.G. Wells

Even of 80% of Halfords were crap, it still leaves over 100 stores that arent. And in the end both LBSs and Halfords can be poor. The customer service does vary from store to store. Some are excellent.0
