I really fancy getting a single speed. I live in a quite a hilly area and have a biggish climb on my daily commute. Am I mad? The 2 bikes I'm looking at are the Spec. langster and the tricross single speed.

Any comments/ advise would be welcome
Cheers

  • From Baildon to Rawdon. Hollins Hill being the only stumbling block.
  • I think it all depends on the gearing, so no idea pn what hills you have, for info those two are what I`ve narrowed things down to myself but going to have a look in the flesh over this week or weekend.
  • Both look good. I've been today. I think the Tricross looks a bit more practical for the winter commute.
  • go fixed!!
u can always get a flip/flop or indeed a fixed/fixed so u have the option of 2 different gears.

  • I agree on all comments so far, tricross is better imo & go fixed.

fixed will keep the blood flowing through these cold winter months better.

I also suggest you look at the il pompino, a bit more of a hardcore bicycle, tougher, stronger, more clearances, etc...

I live in South Yorkshire and don't have a problem with any of the hills.
