the right size for one. the correct number of holes for two. the correct axel type for threee and then spokes to fit.

  • What is the standard size for a specialized hard rock sport 06?

What dose it matter what type of axel ??? ( I have q/r now and I would rather bolt up)

you need a 135 OLD hub with a 10mm axle. you do not want a bolt up hub you want a hub with a nutted axle.

so a standard qr pro 2 will fit.

yes But two points. the bolt threads will cut into your frame. and you will need a XT cassette or you risk the cogs cutting into the Alloy cassette carrier.

what spokes and rim are you going to use?

  • so what bikes will have them sorts of bolts ??

and that just because of them bolts ??

there will be a note in the box saying you should run an XT or XO cassette or you could damage the cassette carrier.

  • is that the same with any hope hub or only with this one ??

that one look at the QR type and the part that sits in the drop out is smooth.

    to quote another poster
If you're running proIIs with the alloy freehub body, hope strongly reccomend that you use XT/XTR cassettes, or an X.0. Other cassettes have loose cogs rather than a complete alloy carrier which means that the cogs can dig into and damage the freehub body.

XT is the cheapest of that bunch, and it's a nice, light cassette with better shifting than the equivilent SRAM.

This is a lot of hub for a hardrock, especially when factoring in the rebuild of your wheel - probably half the value of the bike! I'd just go to Merlin and buy a whole new wheel, liike XT hub on a 719 rim for about 65 quid.
  • the bike has been totaly changed and im thinking of upgrading the frame soon afta iv got the new bk wheel

if you dont want to cut up the cassette carrier you should.

also dont forget the new spokes.

here is an alloy body which had some road use. not mtb use.

    aluminum-body.jpg

    and to quote sheldon
Some "premium" off-brand hubs use aluminum bodies to save weight. This is a Bad Idea because the standard Shimano spline pattern is not designed for this material. The steel sprockets are liable to cut notches into the edges of the splines, which can make it very difficult if not impossible to remove the cassette from the damaged body.

Shown here is an aluminum body that has suffered this sort of damage. Someone has filed down the burrs to make it re-usable after a fashion.

For the 2004 model year, Shimano started using aluminum bodies for the Dura-Ace 10-speed model. To avoid this problem, Shimano changed the spline pattern, making the aluminum spline ridges significantly taller for better support. The downside of this is that those hubs will accept only 10-speed cassettes.

  • so i can only put a 10 speed Cassette on it ??

ANY cassette wiill fit but hope recomend XT or XTR or XO.

that 10spd is nothing to do with your purchace but an example of what could (will) happen if you use any cassette that does not use a carrier.

so what spokes are you going to get?

Ok so you are not buying a hub but a wheel, and a cassette if you dont want the cassette carrier being cut up.
