Nexus 8 speed

Just bought a nexus 8 speed wheel but it doesn't have the fitting kit or shifter.
How hard are they to install, and does anywhere in the world have the stuff in stock?
Everywhere says 1 or 2 months to get it in.

    They are pretty easy to maintain, and I'd have thought easy to fit. No harder than a dérailleur.
