If you plan to sell the old parts from new, could be a worth while project. But usually better to buy a better bike in the first place! never really udnderstood why people upgrade the parts straight away!0

I've got this bike. I use it for everything from cross country to North shore and 4X. I would ride the bike loads, see what you like or dislike (and see if anything breaks)before you start upgrading.
For longer rides I chuck on some lighter tyres, longer seat post and SPDs, then chuck the platforms back on everything else. Other than that, the standard set up is stong, ok weight and pretty bomb proof.
The forks are good but heavy - not always a bad thing if you are jumping off stuff. Brakes seem fine so far.0 -
i also ride one of these and i ride it for everything i do offroad. I also ride a 24" wheeled jump bike for street. I was in the lucky position to already have a different wheel set etc.. to put on it from my previous bike. I changed the wheels to Hope pro 2 on Mavic ex721 rims, hope headset, Lx hollwtech crankset, Race Face Diablous stem, Easton Bars and put 200mm rotors on to her. I only did this cause i had these parts already and i am a big guy so need better stopping power.
The bike as it stands of the shelf is amazing. Only think i would change is the bars, as the ones it comes with feel horrible and are too narrow. Wheelset, cranks are good value and should last a while.
Like i said i ride everything, xc to downhill on my P All Mountain and it is holding up great, the forks work amazing, which took me by surprise. So this is a very good bike and great value for money.
I am just back from a weekend in glentress and i ragged the shit oot of her, and it held up fine.
To answer ya questions :
* Upgrade the bars straight away
* Brakes work amazing once bed in
* Forks work ace, mine are plush, much better than my 04 ones i was running before on my old enduro
* Might be worth getting a new headset too straight away
* i have ran Continental Vertical tyres and now i am running Specialized Enduro tyres both are ace, Tyres it comes with are ok but a bit smooth for around my way!
So yeah buy one ya wont regret it. Hope that helps!0 -
my mate has one of these bikes and loves it to bits, but the brakes are now shot after 8 months, so he had to buy hope ones to replace. the back brake the piston snapped off and the front brakes hose snapped off the lever and p***ed the fluid everywhere so hes put new ones on.
Also he put halo SAS gold wheels on it and other hope parts (stem, clamps, QR sqewers, new bars etc) and it looks MINT!!!
apart from brakes i'd definatley recommend one!0
