  • Truly gutted, one of my heroes, thoughts go out to family and friends of those involved, a real legend who will be missed by so many.

RIP Colin, thanks for some great memories
  • So sad that 2 of the greatest drivers of their generation, McRae and Burns, are dead long before time.

RIP and condolences to his poor family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Colin a couple of times, once at his home just when he moved in, top bloke. Just seemed like a real down to earth guy, as some one has already said along with RB another one of the greats taken way to early.

Bloody helicopters and racing folk just don't mix.

(as an aside Dave Richards boss of Prodrive when Colin won the WRC also crashed his helicopter. He returned from Spa GP as he was upset about the news of CM, his heli developed afault and crashed at stanstead. Thankfully all were ok.)
  • Not sure how many of you subscribe to the WRC podcast, just had a look through the latest ones and theres a tribute podcst for Colin McRae which was released yesterday, worth a listen if you like your rallying and followed the career of Colin.
  • Very very sad. My heart goes out to his wife and family.

He brought rallying to the mainstream almost single handedly.

A really down to earth guy, his and Richards deaths are horrible tradgedies.

    RIP.
  • His one WRC title simply never did the man justice - he was a talent that never really fulfilled the true potential. He could have, and should dominated WRC the same way that Schumacher did in F1. A sad loss to motorsport in the most tragic of circumstances.
