Railway crossings?

Any particular technique recommended for negotiating these?

I've seen a couple of threads on cattle grids. Same sort of deal. 90' on and all should be well?

Haven't had to deal with one to date but thinking of extending my current Sunday morning route a bit (now I'm back on my shitty old but puncture free wheels+tyres) to include upto 3 crossings in a circuit.

My regular run covers several sets of railway crossings. Rightly or wrongly, I take them directly perpendicular, slowly and sit up off the saddle to centre my weight better on the bike and have yet to come off or suffer any wheel damage. I've seen others take the same crossings at speed and stay on the saddle. Obviously I can't comment on if they suffer wheel damage. Maybe theres no right or wrong - as long as you stay upright, in control of the bike and suffer no wheel damage then thats the way!!
