I had a Raleigh Stratos in 80s and Kona Cindercone in 90s - bit out of touch. Anyone know the lightest hardtails between £400 and £800. Cheers

Anything with rigid forks and V brakes. But extra features add weight, and can improve performance. What is it you are after, and for what type of riding?0

Going to get riding again, xc, the odd race maybe. Hydraulic brakes, front suspension, spds. Are specialized particuarly light. Cant find much info on weights of bikes0

No, they don't like quoting them! 400 quid, average weight is often above 30lbs (esp with discs and damped forks), 800 quid may be down to 26lbs. Merlin cycles worth a look for good value deals and light frames.0
