Went to my LBS this morning and took a bike out for a short ride. It was quite a pleasant experience, didn't fall off, didn't crash or break the bike.

So after my first bike ride for 15 years, a very sweaty Grandpa Munster took the plunge.

I bought as follows,

2008 Trek 6700 (19.5" Frame)
Trek 8i Computer
Sonoma Saddle
Bottle & Cage
Trek Seat Pack
Tyre Levers
Multi-Tool
Spesh Inner Tube
Repair Patch
Spesh Hemisphere EX Armadillo Tyres In Lieu Of MTB Tyres
Wrench Force Pump
Gloves
Helmet
Seat Post Clamp (Allen Key Type) As Well As Q/R Clamp
Chain Oil
Botranger SuperCharger Floor Pump (I had to have this as I thought it looked the biz)

I don't think I have forgotten anything lol.

Paid for bike at 13:00 hrs, and picked it up at 17:00 hrs. bike assembled, accessories bolted on, computer working, very happy. I even got some more free stuff when I turned up.

Now the hard work starts.

    Ha!

    Nice bike gramps.
  • Nice One Gramps! Now you've just bought an expensive bike but I didn't see making sure that it's insured as being one of the items on your list. Worth thinking about.

I have looked at some on-line quotes for insurance, works out about £6 per month for £1000 cover.

More than likely the bike will be covered under the house insurance, but I would rather have a separate policy to make sure.
  • I am paying about £42 a year for £1500 worth of all risks cover, as an add on to the house insurance. Worth having if you fall off and break it......
