I had that delima a couple of weeks ago. I went for Khamsin's as they where lighter. However, the whole country where out of Khamsin's so I went for the Vento's instead which I am very happy with.0

I am very happy with my 04 Ventos which i believe are very similar to Khamsins. Mine have done 6 or 7k miles over the last couple of years on my winter bike. They still run perfectly true despite my bunny-hopping, bouncing through pot-holes style of riding and the bearings are still sweet. I would go for the Khamsins or as someone else has said, the new Ventos.
I have just picked up a pair of the newer Ventos for £90 :shock: .

Where did you get those from Garybee? Mine cost me £112.00 from Ribble. They came shod with Conti ultrasport tyres on (which where not very swiftly removed).0

Cycling plus compared them a few months ago - they came out fairly well matchedHas the head wind picked up or the tail wind dropped off???0

I couldn't decide either, so I bought both. I soon discovered that the Mavic's gave me a
14 percent better strain guage number measured at the spoke nipple while under constant
power at speeds over 25 mph. This corralates well with the data I recieved from a digital laser spoke profiler, attached to the chainstay, that reads dymanic spoke tension during
the spoke fatigue cycle. Although Campy was a bit less in this department, it really
showed its true collors in a rim flexion test. Its numbers were 20 percent better than Mavic when under a load moving from the vertical to the horizontal axis while in a straight
line with the road contact patch of the tires . Your choice is obvious.

They were from an e-bay shop called 'highonbikes' , delivered 2 days after i ordered them too.

Me thinks some1 has a bit too much spare time..."I hold it true, what'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost;
Than never to have loved at all."

Just exactly what is a "winter" wheel. I'm going to assume that khamsin's can't
take the cold because they're from a warm country(Italy). Or is it because they have poor
circulation in the spokes and rim?

I keep mine in wheel bags like the F1 boys have to keep their tyres warm whilst in the pits. I had some guy from Mclaran sniffing round my shed the other week.0
