I believe bikes are required to use the central lane to cross the Tay bridge.

Coming from the west and going through Newport on Tay - how do I get to it? Do I go under then up to the roundabout? ( I've not noticed how to get to it when driving this way)

I'm sure I''ll find it eventually but would rather be prepared.

Thanks.

Michael

Coming the otherway Dundee to Newport on Tay according to a guidebook Ive got, there's a car park involved:
Once on the Fife side go down the ramp and turn left into a car park. Continue to the exit of the car park, turn left and descend to the junction of the B946. Turn left and continue through the Village of Newport on Tay....
  • Hi Michael,

If you are coming from Newport then you pass under the bridge on the minor road marked on your map, and there will be a car park on your right hand side. At the bridge end of the car park there will (should) be either a ramp or stairs (I forget which, its been a long time since I've used it) which brings you up onto the central section.

Don't go around the carpark and up to the roundabout, there is no access to the central section from here, unless you plan on leaping over the railings.

There should probably be singposts for NCN1 which point you in the right direction - if you get to Leuchars you've gone too far :D
