On wednesday I was in Walton on Thames and I saw something I've never seen before. It was a traditional style mountain bike, but the rear suspension had shock absobers for seatstays - in other words two suspension legs at the back as well as at the front - made by Manitou.

Sorry I didn't have my camera with me.

Is this wierd, or have I just been living in a hole ?

Marv.

Is this what was known as a "soft tail" housewife?

I had heard they existed but I've never seen one...

Hm, didn't realise they were marins, always presumed thay were Manitou-designed frames...
  • Yeah, defo marin. Maybe co-designed though, it would make sense.

    Better Example
  • I've been poking about a bit more since writing this posting, and found this :

Very similar to what I saw. Reading the text kind of explains why you don't see many around these days.

  • TBH I was sure that these were made by marin but your pic clearly shows manitou as did the first I found. Looking at both though it does appear to be the same frame design (look at the fork crown at the rear).

Anyway, maybe one of the older forum members who were around at the time could give a definitive answer?

Hey, I'm 26 and thought of myself as 'older', I guess its a view still held from the MBUK forum. Anyway, no offence meant.

i would be tempted just to have something of an oddity in the collection but i woudnt touch a craked frame with someone elses money.
