Fork Upgrade - XC or All Mountain

Hi,

Hope someone can advise here.

I would like to upgrade my hardtail forks. They weigh a ton and I am sure could be more effective.

I assume a pair of light XC forks won't be up to the job... - the bike is treated as an all rounder and as well as XC, also does endos, wheelies, bunny hops and a little jumping.

There are all mountain forks around that are lighter than the current fork but tend to have 130-140mm travel. The current fork is 100mm and I assume more will have an adverse affect on the geometry..?

Am I wrong in my assumptions above? Can anyone recommend an all round fork for £200 or less?

Appreciate any comments

Bennett

Ive got my Recons for sale still and they are a brilliant All round fork, 85-130mm travel. If i didnt recommend them the only others i would recommend would be Revelations which i also have a pair of but they are on my Marin now :D

    Thanks for that

Looked up the revalations - sound great but sadly a little too pricey at the mo :(

Recons may be worth a closer look...

    Damn right!
ive got the same bike as you 'jackmcd' and ive just fitted Tora 302's (100mm). they are a great improvement over the Darts.
the rebound dampening works really well and is really useful (my darts gave so much kickback it was ridiculous!), as is the lockout.
also, the fact that they have 32mm stanchions means they dont flex under turning, and they feel much more sturdy. they also take big hits and impacts really comfortably - a real all mountain fork. like you i debated getting 130mm travel forks, but didnt want to spend that much and get it wrong and screw up the geometry, besides, 100mm is fine for am.
    i got mine from crc - £90. 10/10 :D
