Chain Tensioner or Half Link Chain

I've got a 1998 Spesh Hardrock, and about 5 years ago the rear mech hanger got so bent it was irrepairable, and I've SS'ed it since.

I used to use a Crud DCD but that's being a pain at the minute, so I was wondering if I should go for a chain tensioner like the Kore one that attatches to chainstays, or use one of those full half link chains. I'm running it in a magic ratio at the minute with a normal chain, but that's got to stop at some point and the idea of a full half link chain appeals for never ending magic ratio-ness.

Cheers guys.

or just get a half link and use with a normal chain (8sp).

  • Thing is, that's great, till the chain stretches again. I like the idea of having twice the adjustability.

but the full half link chain streches faster than a normal chain and wears faster.

  • Ah, I hadn't thought of that.

Hmm- half link it is then. Cheers.
