Hope HID lights
Off to Dartmoor in the morning via Dorchester.
HAve just treated myself to a set of Hope HID lighting for my commute and night riding whilst on tour.
Stunningly bright, but lighta nd easy to install.
Impressed so far, can't wait to test them with no street lighting!

I've recently bought one from Wiggle as they were on offer @ £215. Think RRP is around £270? Will be using it for road use. Not used it yet but I have switched it on in the dark and was quite impressed. Not totally impressed with the handlebar mount though having to use an allen key to attach it and unattach. some sort of cam lever lock type design would have been better so you can just slip the bracket on and off easily and adjust while you're out riding should you need to? I've not been out riding with it yet but looking forward to giving it a go. Want to see how well I can see when descending on the road. Had a 15watt halogen before this which was ok up to about 25mph in the dark but anything over that and it struggled to let me see what was ahead... like a sheep walking up the middle of the road on an unlit road descent one night last winter. Luckily I was way over to the left otherwise I would have hit it and I would probably have come off quite badly at 40mph. Sh*t myself so decided I needed a brighter light for this winter."Seve Ballesteros, the Spanish bull. A friend of mine said recently; 'What do you get if you cross a ballerina and a b(a)stard?' His answer, Ballesteros."0

Been running a Hope HID for about 2 years off road. Very good light and reliable. The only odd thing I get is an occasional change of hue for not even a second sometimes.
Mine was stem mounted until recently but I've just swapped it to the bar mounted assembly so I could run it on the winter trainer. I see what you're saying about the bar mount but having had QR lights before that constantly rotated around, I'm not that worried. The non-oversize inserts are useful too.0
