went into halfords last week, was looking at the new boardman road bikes, not very impressive by the way, one of the staff started chatting to me and when i said that it just looked like he had just let them put his name on the bike for x amount of pounds, he informed me that it was because chris boardman has been dead for 10 years!
this guy expected me to cough up over 2 thousand euro for a bike that he thought was designed by a corpse.!the staff there are a joke

The bikes themselves are very good and have had an excellent write up in C+ this month.
People need to get past the Halfords hang up and the bike snobbery.
Each shop that sells the Boardman range has at least one member of staff who has been "trained" on the set up and knowledge of the whole range.
I guess it wasnt that guy you saw!!!0 -
OK bike snobbery but why go to Halfords when you can get an equally good or better bike from your local bike shop - where all of the staff at least know that 'Chrissy B' is still alive?'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

I went in about a month ago after my bike was nicked with the intention of solving the problem of how to get to work the following Monday (sorry, I mean buying a new bike). So there I was looking at the bikes with the intention of buying one and the dim staff instead of trying to sell me one just came up and offered me a credit card
:?0 -

They would rather try and sign me up for a credit card than attempt to sell me a bike. I did not sign up and they missed a sale.0

would have been highly amusing had it been Mr Boardman himself in that scenario...if you think Halfords is poor tyr going to Motorworld.....0

Hey let's just not worry about the Halfords lot - just check out all the facts and figures on boardman's site http://www.boardmanbikes.com/boardman_road_spec.pdf and be done with it.
Just been looking at them myself for holidaying abroad with as I still don't want to risk putting my pride and joy in a bike bag and see British Airways either knackering it or losing it altogether.. and they stack up amazingly well for the money. My other thought was Focus, but the lower priced ones (under the Cayo range) have dreadful wheels.. so in that respect like for like the componentry is better on the Boardman lower price range than on the Focuses.. that is of course if you don't want carbon fibre..
