Cleat shims for SPD cleats?
Hi
I am looking for some cleat wedges, but all the ones i can see for sale are for the Look type pedals.
I did see some that Bikefit use, but they only sell them as part of a full bike fitting.
Does anybody know where you can get these from, without having a bike fitting?
I want to give cleat wedges a go before forking out a fortune for custom cast orthotics.
Cheers.

Rampax,
These wedges are available seperately from bicycle fit as a set of 8 for SPD, my wife just got fitted properly with wedges on one cleat and it made a huge difference, they also sell the gauge and wedges as a kit to DIY.0 -
Hi
Yes, I got a set from there, and used them for a while, but I found that even with them "maxed out" it wasnt enough for the large amount of tilt in my forefoot.
But more importantly, I found it a real nightmare trying to get my feet into the pedals.
I adjusted and fiddled with them over and over, but in the end I had to take them off.
I am now seeing an Osteopath, with a view to freeing up overly tight ligaments. Then perhaps take the plunge and get the outrageously expensive Custom Cast Orthotics. Depending on how things go with the ostopath. The A6 Hazel Grove - "Always the worst part of any ride".0 -
rampax, maybe a stupid question, but is it specifically to correct a 'tilt' or to correct length?
Reason for asking is I had a problem with one leg being significantly shorter than other and I made some shims from thin tin with a cheap pair of tin snips and a drill. Although it is a bit funny to alk in them they are spot on when riding. I did a reasonable job tidying them up so they cna't really be seen.0 -
Yeah, I have had my leg length measured twice by different specialists and there is a VERY slight difference, that is not considered significant.
I suspect my problems are from both: Large amount of forefoot tilt & very tight muscles and ligaments in my upper legs. The A6 Hazel Grove - "Always the worst part of any ride".0 -
It could well be worth your while to ask a question here: http://www.cyclingnews.com/fitness/?id=default#qa
(FWIW, Steve Hogg sells SPD leg length adjustment shins: http://www.cyclefitcentre.com/cyclefit%20services.htm, near bottom of page)
It might also be worth checking this out: http://www.footfoundation.com/?gclid=CI ... YAod_EU2SQ (Sounds interesting but I haven't tried it.)
Stretching could be a Good Thing too...
Good luck!0
