Decent forks for my Marin

Chaps,

am considering upgrading the Manitou Axel Elites forks on my Palisades for a couple of reasons.

Firstly they have no lockout, and secondly, they would benefit my commuter Carrera, and give me a slightly more comfy ride to work!

I've seen these on CRC - still Manitou - any good? (Can't tell if it has lockout)

I'm looking for 100mm of travel, and lightness would slightly come above ruggedness.
Any specific type of fork I should go for, ie are there different internal methods of getting the damping, be in spring/air/hydraulics?

Many thanks

I really like the Manitou Black forks. I used them for a while and they were pretty good. Nice for £150 as well. That was until they spewed up their guts everywhere. Terribly unreliable.

I'd go with something like the Marzocchi Mx Pro, or a Rockshox Recon for that sort of cash.

I'll see you at the end.

You'll see me on the floor.

It was looking good until the 'terribly unreliable' bit!

Do you remember if they have lockout??

I'll investigate the other 2 forks you mention.

    Cheers

I can vouch for the Recons being great forks, I had some on my Marin Hawkhill, They are now for sale as i put some Revelations on my Hawkhill in the end as they suited it better.

    Thanks for your reply Scubar,

Looking on CRC, the cheapest recon form seems to be £199.99 for the 327 solo air - is that the one you are talking about?

I can see a 351 solo air with poploc for another £20.

Am I right to think the 'Air' means it is the lightest method?

I have 351 U Turns travel adjustable from 85-130mm with poploc,

The Air versions weigh slightly less than coil but arent as plush out on the ride.
