Hi Guys,

just started commuting on the bike. wanted to know if anyone has a good route between liverpool st station and Victoria station as the TFL site seems to use random elf magic to pick routes. Latest one involved Borough High St.

If anyone knows an A-B that's more sensible, let me know

Thanks!!!!

Adam :D

  • I think I'd probably head down towards Bank on Old Broad Street and from there you can go up Poultry towards St Pauls, then Ludgate Hill, Fleet St, The Mall, Buckingham Palace Road and you're there. It's a pretty direct route and I've found it to be ok apart from Traf Sq which is a nightmare - but no worse than going down onto Embankment/through the West End.

    Good luck & happy riding...
  • I know it seems counter-intuitive but it might actually be easier to cross the river at london bridge then head along Union St, The Cut, past Waterloo and cross back over the river at Westminster or Lambeth bridge.]
Roads much quieter than the going through the City, Strand, T-Sq, etc.
Look at the map. I'll bet there's not much difference in distance.

    Thanks Guys,

These both look like good routes. I'll try them out and see which works best :D

Embankment is fine - I cycle round the west end and through Victoria every day...

If you are anything like me you will quickly morph into a mad max style commuter as well, if you are on a road bike the commute quickly becomes a series of sprints between traffic lights

 desperately trying to keep the roadie bigotry under control

I don't think i would swap it for my Allex Elite but I would never get my bike on a commuter train

ha! then I win. looking like an old lady rules. Thanks to One Railways for their continued lack of support for proper bikes and the fact I have to leave my 'proper' GT at home.

Thinks I might pimp it out and wear some dayglo.
