  • And the most annoying thing? They've taken the Aussies record for lowest Twenty20 score!

Hopefully it will be a great tournament, with loads of close games.

My brother has actually gone out there as part of a world tour he is doing. I have to say that the company doing the tickets is a complete joke. The website was constantly out of action when he tried to book tickets (each time he was told to check back tomorrow). He then called, but was twice told to call back because the system was down. Eventually he managed to get tickets over the phone (something like £12 to see 4 matches!!), but the email confirmation never came through, and his messages got no response. Now he is out there and everytime he goes into one of the units for the ticket company he is told their system is down. He is hoping that he will be able to get into the games, but is a little concerned given that he only went there for the cricket! If need be, I guess he will buy tickets off a tout. If the tickets have a face value of around £3, I guess the mark-up won't be extreme!

What a win for the Zimbos!!!
  • What was that outfit Australia were wearing ?

A baggy old tank top with a skin tight body stocking underneath? numpties.

If the Aussies are prepared to go for it we could be out of the tournament. Not sure what they need to do (i.e. achieve the winning total within a certain number of overs), but hopefully our 50 run win over Zimbabwe will be enough to keep our net run rate high enough (should we lose of course).

    63-0 after 6.1.

Need 73 off 3.1. to knock England out.

    Unlikely.

  • Does anyone know at what number of overs Eng need to stretch it to in order that they finish top of the group, by virtue of better net run rate than Aus?

    16.4 by my calculations...

  • Hmm - assuming SA beat Bangladesh, we'll have the pleasure of getting utterly panned by them then!
  • It is so disappointing that we get into a good position time and time again and then cock it right up.

  • Can anyone explain now we are in the super eights why we dont appear to be playing Bangladesh or Pakistan ( 2 of the weaker teams)

On saying that we would probably lose to both, What with our fielding and the inability to stand still in the crease. Freddy Flintoff bats like a member of Riverdance!

The super 8s groups were essentially set in advance. i.e teams xy and z will be in this group. If x didn't make it, the team not expected to advance would take that place. Apparently this was done to make it easier for people planning to fly out and watch the competition. Thus, if you were flying from England you would know in advance where all their games were likely to be played.
  • And it makes it easier for the England(and Wales) team because they know they can catch the first plane home
  • Prior to the Indian innings I'd have said we were playing for pride. Now we've gotta go out there and try not to be utterly humiliated.

What do we reckon then - all out for sub-150?
  • We are embarrassing. Thank god for the track cyclists, the only British national sporting team that doesn't choke at the top level.

    Good call.

36 conceded in one over – hmm.....
  • Don't forget the sailors, Jimmy. They're pretty much at the top of their field too!
