Spesh Allez + guards?
Plan to use my current bike throughout the winter (when its not blowing a whooly).
Will an Allez take full guards or is it raceblades only?
If it is the latter, what comes recommended?

I have a Spesh Allez Comp and use SKS Raceblade for audax and winter riding. They are not as good as full monty's but better than nothing.I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks0

Thanks.
My only concern was whether they'd be enough if I decide to join a cycling club.
I was out last Sunday and was approached by a guy (he caught me rather than I caught him ). We got chatting and he mentioned a meet time for his club.
Told him I'd only been on road bikes for 12 months blah blah (didn't tell him I was an ubber newber though).and hadn't bothered with a club etc.
Whenever I've looked at a cycling club website they seem fairly insistent on requiring full guards for winter meets or you sit at the back with a dunces hat on.
I'll certainly need something as I got sprayed with all kinds of shite last winter.
I might spend the winter alone though and look into a club for next season.0 -
They do the job and eliminate most of the spray. They can be slightly twisted due to the arms moving and the light nature of them.
On a separate point, if you get the chance keep your eyes out for a sale/ lighter groupset it will make your Allez a lot lighter. I swapped for a 105 groupset and the difference is noticeable. The bottom bracket in particular weighs a ton...0
