Okay SUPERSONIC, it does depend on the terrain you'll be riding......What I really meant by the above poll is:-

If you were to go and buy a new bike which type are you more likely to buy? A nice hardtail for £1000 say, or a Full suss for the same price?

If price is not the issue, then why not buy a full susser with lockout at both ends? Then youve got the power of choice :P

I know it wouldnt be a complete hardtail because the rear suss has bash protection, but if its a sore butt your after, and simialar characteristics, A locked out rear would provide a similar experience IMO

At that price point definetly a hard tail but the more money you add the more i would have a fs

    I loved my old HT.

But I wouldn't swap my FS for it now!
  • i prefer both as it all depends on where you are going. places likes glentress there is no need for a full sus. thats when i would pull out the hardtail. if the place is rocky/rooty then yeah i would prefer a ful sus. you can do pretty much anything on a hardtail. it's good to have that choice as there are far to many people out on full sus's that have frogotten how to ride a bike properly. you put most full sus riders (not all) on a hardtail and all of a sudden you can see the fear in their eyes. lol

back to my point if i "had to have one bike" i would go for a hardtail as i like to street ride aswell.

For a grand it would be a HT no question but if money was no object it would a full springer.

If I could only have one bike, it'd probably be a hardtail.

I have both, and there both great in there own environment.
But if I could only have one bike, it would be a hard tail.

ok well i have a bmx, and both a marin alpine trail and an on-one inbred which share parts.
i've just bought the inbred so i'm trying that out but i really love my marin. if i really had to have only one.... ooohhh prob a hardtail mainly because of billy trailstar from dirt magazine.
  • It would HAVE to be a freeride hardtail!!! You can do EVERYTHING on hardtail!!!

    What he said.

Coiler for fun stuff. XTC for fast stuff. Both have their merits, both have their downsides.
  • Its got to be a hardtail anyday more skill required and loads of fun
I love my Norco more than my missus
  • Hmm it depends on what your doing... XC or Dirt Jumping... I use Hardtail for DJ.. :)
