Thanks to my first road accident in twenty years (run off the road by some twunt overtaking on a narrow country road) I have a broken spoke in my front Neutron, and the rim's out of true...

Can these be repaired by LBS's, or do they have to go to A special Service Centre?

Anyone done this / got any ideas how much it'll cost?

TIA,

You should be able to fix it yourself, if it is just the one spoke.

I know you can get hold of spoke sets that contain a few spokes (front and rear). Then all you need is a tool that has a recesed allen key head fiiting so that you can turn the screw in the rim. Just tighten the spoke until its is true.

Italian Cycle Products or Mercian should be able to supply spare spokes and I know for sure that Mercian have the spoke keys - I bought one recently. The Campag website has an online parts catalogue. As long as the buckle isn't too big and the rim isn't distorted, it should be possible to retrue the wheel perfectly - as it's a radial spoked wheel, you may have to slacken off the spokes and retension quite a few to make sure you've got even tension - just refitting the one spoke and tensioning it might over-tension. Sometimes I've found that slackening off all the spokes allows the rim to return to it's normal true position, and then retension as a new build.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

However, I will definitely not be attempting the job myself – that would be a recipe for disaster...

Off to find an LBS willing to do the job....

Its slightly non standard, because you need to take the rim tape off. The adjustment is then made using a 5mm nut key. As mentioned above, you can get a spares set from Italian Cycle Products.
I got the nut key from Total Cycling, and I think they are struggling to get stock at the moment.
