Being tempted by road bikes to try and keep my fitness levels up when I don't have time to drive to the trials on MTB.
Looked at the Decathlon Sport 2, can anyone tell me if these are reasonable for a first road bike.
One thing I did notice was it had 30 gears as apposed to what seems to be the usual 14ish,is this a benifit or hinderance.

Also any other suggestions sub £300

it's a very good bike for the money.

re: the 30 gears - it has a triple, which is fine.

JellyBelly, I think that you need to fix your sig

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!

Wowee, that is a lot of replies! :D

My sig went screwy too - had to redo it as such: (First and last square [] brackets removed so it shows up)

Yes, it's a good bike for the price :)

I've had mine for 8-9months now, all I've done to it in that time is add
SPD pedals, move the STIs a little and change the brake pads to something
that fits on the rim properly :)

I have noticed my rear wheel doesn't spin too well though, it feels smooth,
but there seems to be too much friction slowing it right down. It's a cartridge
I think, so I guess I should just replace it with something decent.

The bottom bracket caps are plastic too. I've only opened them a few times
and they're showing a bit of wear already.

Check the cranks for cracks/deformities too, my right crank had a
crack/deformity in it, took them ages to contact the manufacturer to
see if they'd pay for the replacement or something :/

Don't let that put you off though, it's a great bike otherwise :)

Think I might take a trip to the Decathlon shop shortly & have a look at these as I'm in the market for an inexpensive road bike atm...

I nearly bought a Sport 3 in June when I was in provence for a holiday, had a good look at one in the shop, but they didn't have my size, and even if they had, I wasn't convinced enough to bring one back in the car.

I think it would have worked out as £370.
Bagged my 2 year old Felt for £100 more though, so more than happy.
