As the title sugests, can I have some recommendations for a road bike between about four and five hundred quid? I've been into mountain bikes for a while now, but have little knowledge about road bikes. I'm about Five feet ten and twelve and a half stone, and want something for a bit of training riding.

Go to the good local bike shops, and see what they have. They might well be clearing last years stock right now, so bargains are to be had. If you want to use the bike throught the winter, consider a model with mudguard eyelets, such as the Dawes Giro range or an audax bike.
Most bikes in your price range will be fairly similar anyway, so get the bike from the shop you like most.0 -
I looked at Dawes, Trek 1000 Trk Pilot 1.0 and Spez Allez
Went for a Spez because I liked the shop and know he gives good service.
As above, a good time for bargains too!

The current C+ has a group test review in the £500 to £800 range, and rates the Boardman Comp (£599) at 9/10. Equally, the Cube Aerial Comp (£499) is a 9/10. There's also a review of £500 bikes in the May issue, C+ 196.0

Has anyone go any opinions on the BeOne bikes that Chain Reaction Cycles sell? There are a few of them in my price range and I quite like them.0
