Sore right knee after cycling hard

Not sure if anyone has any ideas here. I'm getting a slight stiffness in my right knee after cycling with any sort of hard effort involved and I think it's probably related to my set up on the bike than anything more fundamental (I don't suffer stiffness in the knee at any other time or during any other activity).
Anyone got any thoughts on what might cause it? Is my seat too low or high, etc etc? Hoping for a quick fix...

Are you pushing too big a gear? I occasionally get knee pain if I forget to 'spin' over the hills.0
