Put this in "Gear" to no response (not sure if th was the most appropriate place for it).
Thinking of going this year.
Anyone been before? Is it a good show? Is there enough "fun stuff" to keep a 6yo amused for the day? Are there many freebies 8) (surely it's the main reason people go to these things!).

I went last year and quite enjoyed it. Most of the show is, as you'd expect, devoted to trade stands from various bike and accessory manufacturers, plus magazines, cycling organisations and other such stuff. Not much in the way of freebies, but there were some opportunities to buy stuff - there was a shop and also CRC (I think?) were giving 10% on products ordered from its computer terminals within the show.
I'm not sure how much would be of interest to a 6yo, although they might enjoy the trials bike competition (quite a spectacle!) and there was also a track where you could try out various bikes.0 -
I was a good event when it was in Islington, but I went to it at Excel a couple of years ago and it seemed to have deteriorated in terms of number of exhibitors and general 'fun stuff'. It could have just been the venue, so I'll be giving it another chance this year.0

I went in 2005 and 2006, both at Excel. In 2005 it was good, most of the major players were there and made an effort with their stands and displays and lots of goodies.
Last year only Spesh and Scott were there from the big boys (IIRC) and the best stands were from manufactures like Cube. etc. Really a let down though overall and is nowhere near worthe the entrance fee unless you have no decent LBS anywhere near you and you know little about bikes.
Also remember the totty being of a far higher calibre in 2005, especially a couple of the promo girls on the stands and 2-3 of the dancers in the fashion show!!
Save your money and wander round a good large shop once the new models are out (for free!) and ask them for advice...

I think I might give it a go this year, sucks having to pay for a train ticket though0

I might pop along and have a look. I see that Condor are exhibiting. I wonder what the staff on their stand will be like? Probably standing around and ignoring everyoneBeer, the reason my ambitions have not become my achievements0
