Hi,
Based in Ireland, so Chainreaction is my preferred supplier online as I have used them before and they ship free (I could be persuaded to go elsewhere if the deal is so good that it's worth paying the shipping).
Anyway, I am a roadie looking to do a little recreational XC for a couple of months this autumn to keep my fitness level up and try out something different. The bike won't get all that much use so I do not want to spend much at all.
I was thinking of the GT avalanche 1.0 here:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17829
But then I saw this Beone:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=14966
The beone looks like a better spec with my very minimal knowledge of MTB's, but I have not been able to find any real reviews anywhere.
Does anyone have any opinions on these bikes (or any others on the chainreaction sites or elsewhere ?).
Also, at 5' 7", light build with a 29 inch inside leg would I be looking at a 15 or 17" frame ?

You need to try them - its the best way to find out what size you need. Geometry varies brand to brand. It looks good on paper, but might ride like a dog or not fit you. Try it.0
